My Life is Average
thought i’d drop by to say hi to myself before i go back to mugging. Actually somedays I wonder why I even blog – to know more about myself? to talk to myself? to let people know more about me? to bore myself out? to express feelings I can’t express elsewhere? oh, forget about the last one. a blog is so damn public you probably have to censor almost everything anyway. wow hahaha and I just typed so much without much thinking.
Yea, so my life is average. I suppose you’ve heard of fmylife.com and mylifeisaverage.com. But if you haven’t and you are really bored, those could bring some laughs. If you detest harry potter however, mlia is not suggested. haha. So anyway, it’s the long weekend before the rest of the exams (like you didn’t already know – see what i mean! im talking to myself.) and i really want things to be over and done with then i can go enjoy myself. oh, haven’t met you yet is just playing now. michael buble’s album is no.1 on the billboard chart! oh and britney spear’s ‘3′ is no.1 on the billboard hot 100, the beat is pretty cool but it gets overly repetitive and her voice sounds a little weird. but its time for ‘I gotta feeling’ to get off the no.1 spot anyway. HAHA and i bet you didnt give a damn about all the above. (and all the above is yet another song) imagine if people just started speaking in song titles all the time. I think it would work out.
Okay so I thought I’d blog about a dilemma that I’m in right now. SYFC vs canoeing. Uh, yea i know i dont seem like someone who would go for canoeing but hey, i was thinking why not give it a try? and then along comes SYFC. For those who didn’t know, I’d love to be a pilot when i grow up (rsaf, sia whatever) so technically SYFC would be a good experience and stuff. SO I’m like stuck between two I like. But actually I think I’ve made up my mind. (and i’m not telling you what. hah.) Which renders the entire paragraph useless. Awesome.
And I was thinking of what I want to be when I grow up. Diving instructor sounds way cool, pilot is cool too but it has nothing much to do with nature (other than sky sky sky everywhere) and theres actor (isn’t it cool to be one!) just that I probably can’t act. Singer sounds very good too (pardon the pun) just that I can’t sing (people in my class know very well). And actors and singers earn like, lots of money if they are successful! Taylor Swift is just 19 and she probably has earned more money in a year than my parents in their lifetime. But its not just about the money (wow.) cos i want to do something really fun. Of course the best would be to just live in a big house with a nice view and a nice pool and good friends and nothing to do so i can just enjoy my life, travel the world (oh i want to do that too thats why i want to be a pilot) and do lots of stuff. but that does not get me any money so thats tough. oh and i want a cool car too! Oh if there’s anyone rich out there who like, wants to give away money you can find me okay. and it must be given unconditionally, like yea you give to me and nothing happens and i just enjoy my life. haha dream on.
Oh speaking of dreams, i dreamt that my starting pay was 30k! Which is probably impossible. Last night I had lots of dreams. There was that one, and something else. and something else. I already forgot most of them anyway. Okay so i suppose here ends my long post. It’s probably my longest in a longest while and irony is – it’s during exam period. HAHA omg i just realised that i didn’t blog anything about exams, which is really good. People need to talk less about exams and results and stuff. SO how was your exams? HAHAHAHA.
just another you-don’t-really-want-to-spend-your-time-reading-cos-its-dead-boring episode of my life.

Been a real long time since my last post, so here’s another post. Have been wanting to post for quite a long while now but couldnt really get myself to it because I dislike giving short ‘unloving’ posts. Like uh, no heart in it yeea. But I can’t say i got the heart to post now anyway haha. SO anyway, i dont know what to type about. I wanted to tell a story, i think. so here goes:
Once upon a time, there was a stupid boy who got drunk real bad. He laid down on a train track and a train barely missed him. The police woke him up and he gave them the finger :D The end. Go read it below!
Train misses drunken teen napping on track
PARIS (Reuters) – A drunk French teenager narrowly escaped death on Sunday after falling asleep on a railway track and slumbering undisturbed as a high-speed train roared over him, police said.
The 19-year old, whose name was not released, remained fast asleep face down on a stretch of track near Saint Nolff in southern Brittany, as the Quimper to Paris train passed, leaving only a few grease stains on the back of his jacket.
The driver saw the body lying on the tracks and slammed on the brakes, but was only able to stop a few hundred meters further on.
“It was his unconscious state that saved him really, as he lay there completely still like a dead body,” said a spokesman for the local police force, adding that the clearance under the train is only around 20 centimeters.
According to the spokesman, the teenager was making his way back from the Saint Nolff music festival when he stopped to take a nap on the railway line.
Roused by police and fire fighters who attended the scene, the young man gave a one-fingered salute before rolling over and going back to sleep.
He was subsequently transferred to a nearby hospital where police say he is still recovering from his alcohol binge.
“He’s not really aware of what happened,” said the police spokesman.

Only happens in Paris haha. If this was Singapore, you either went splat or straight to jail. haha thats my typical trick to make my posts seem longer. I think i should stop doing it soon. But i mean, its just sharing uh funny stupid stuff. Actually i get them from gmail’s adverts/whatnots above the inbox. It’s from reuter’s oddly enough news. yeea.

That’s a good song, but it didnt stay in my head as bleeding love did. But still, its awesome.

be all you can be! anecdotes
The following are excerpts from a book that renhao and friends got me for my birthday, Be All You Can Be! by John C. MAXwell.
The story is told that when Berlin was being divided into East Berlin, controlled by the Communists, and West Berlin, part of the free world, a group of East Berliners dumped a whole truckload of garbage on the west side. The people from West Berlin thought they’d pick up all the garbage, put it on a truck, and dump it back on the east side. Then they decided that wasn’t the way to handle it. Instead they filled a dump truck with canned goods and other nonperishable food items, went over to the east side, stack it neatly, and put a sign beside it. The sign read, “Each gives what each has to give.”
HAHA. if you didnt understand it take your time, took me quite a while too.
Everybody wants to be productive. A psychologist at Stanford University tried to show that we live for productive results, or fruit. This researcher hired a man – a logger. He said, “I’ll pay you double what you get paid in the logging camp, if you’ll take the blunt end of this ax and just pound this log all day. You never have to cut one piece of wood. Just take the end that is blunt and hit it as hard as you can, just as you would if you were logging.” The man worked for half a day and he quit. The psychologist asked, “Why did you quit?” The logger said, “Because every time i move an ax, I have to see the chips fly. If I dont’ see the chips fly, it’s no fun.” … In other words, they are producing no fruit, and their joy is gone. Joy has been replaced by a sense of futility, uselessness, immobility. Fruitful people like to see the chips fly.
go out and make some chips fly today!
I hope there’s more to come, will try to share some nuggets of enlightenment now and then. haha.

Dutch girl, 13, blocked from global solo sail
Fri Aug 28, 2009 2:55pm EDTBy Aaron Gray-Block
UTRECHT, Netherlands (Reuters) – A 13-year-old Dutch girl’s plans to become the youngest person to sail solo around the world were temporarily blocked on Friday when a court placed her under state supervision for two months.Laura Dekker, who was born on her parents’ boat in New Zealand and spent her first four years at sea, had intended to begin a two-year voyage on September 1 on her 8.3 meter (27 ft) yacht Guppy.
“I’m not scared because I know that I can do it and my boat is good,” she said in an interview with state broadcaster NOS, when asked about the court ruling.
“…It’s basically stayed about the same, only it will take a little longer,” she added.
In a case that captured the attention of the sea-faring Dutch, child welfare authorities said it would be irresponsible to let her depart. A court in Utrecht agreed the trip posed risks to Dekker’s psychological development.
The court stopped short of removing custody from her parents, who support her planned trip, and she will stay with her father, who will share custody with the state.
The court ordered a psychologist and child protection authorities to examine how she would cope alone on the boat.
The ruling came a day after British 17-year-old Mike Perham became the youngest person to sail around the globe single-handed after nine months at sea.
Dekker’s lawyer, Peter de Lange, said he was confident her trip would go ahead.
“She is happy with the ruling, and now we can prepare this (journey) in a mature and responsible way,” De Lange said. Her father, an experienced sailor, was in court for the verdict, but did not speak to reporters.
Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende told a weekly news conference the risks and Dekker’s schooling must be taken into account. “I can very well imagine that from various perspectives there are great concerns,” he said.
CHALLENGES AT SEA
Dekker said in the interview she would tell investigating authorities how she grew up to give them an idea of her abilities. She stressed the longest time she would be alone at sea would be three weeks since she would often call into port.
She shrugged off concerns about her schooling because she plans to study via distance learning.
Caroline Vink, a senior adviser at the Youth Institute in the Netherlands which advises the Dutch government, said the biggest question was whether a 13-year-old could understand the consequences of her decision.
“Two years out of school will have an impact on her normal development,” she said. “It is wonderful to have dreams, but they have to be realistic.”
Presiding Judge M. Oostendorp said a hearing would be held on October 26 to examine the findings of the inquiry into the teenager’s ability to cope with the challenges of a trip.
A court spokeswoman said if the psychological assessment showed Dekker unable to cope, she could be placed under permanent supervision of welfare authorities.

quite a headache for the dutch, i’m sure.
anyway, just got back from hillary closing ceremony, congrats go out to both teams, well done guys – they got top two btw. well done everyone!
okay on to something totally unrelated. there are a few reasons that people look down while walking, some feel disappointed, some are looking out for cracks in the ground (people with ocd included), some avoiding birdshit on the floor.
…or some have just drop dead gorgeous sexy shoes.
go figure.

whispered words of wisdom
so let it be;
This is guaranteed to make you laugh. Don’t know if anyone has seen this before, but it certainly put a smile on my face.
Haven’t been doing much with my life lately, except for yesterday when i blew 50 bucks on a topman jacket. Come to think of it, 50 bucks IS damn ex. but ah well, its cool. HAHA. Everything cool has a price, if not it ain’t cool. yea right. and went to timbre with my bro and mum, super cool! It’s this pub/bar place at clarke quay, along the singapore river, just next to the stamford raffles statue. Really good place and their saturday live band rocks! :D My bro says they perform at hard rock some times also. Ah well, yesterday was heck lot of fun. OH yes the ice cream buffet. It was kinda crazy. Eating so much ice cream has its problems. And after lots of cake and pie and ice cream, I was really craving for meat. You know, like the menu front cover has that juicy piece of beef. O: It never looked so good before. Won’t go back there in a while, but i suppose their service is rated A+. (other than the super duper long queue – which isn’t really their fault) but their place is really big so the queue isn’t that slow.
Well, these four days holiday is gonna be spent nice and slowly, and i’m gonna make full use of it – with paying back my sleep debt for starters. Oh and yea, man u won 2 -1 this morning, quite happy but its from a penalty and own goal, while arsenal scored a real nice goal (as they said on bbc), so i dont know, might be just luck or man u might really be doing quite well. I still think they need better strikers. Owen is out of touch, berbatov is lazy, valencia is new, nani is lousy, which leaves rooney as the only hard working and effective striker. (i think.) Tevez was good but i dont know whats wrong between him and ferguson. Anyway, hope they make at least one more signing before the transfer window closes.
Ah well, till next time then.

lay on a blanket and stare up at the moon;
“Putpockets” give a little extra cash
LONDON (Reuters) – Visitors to London always have to be on the look out for pickpockets, but now there’s another, more positive phenomenon on the loose — putpockets.
Aware that people are suffering in the economic crisis, 20 former pickpockets have turned over a new leaf and are now trawling London’s tourist sites slipping money back into unsuspecting pockets.
Anything from 5 pounds ($8) to 20 pound notes is being surreptitiously deposited in unguarded pockets or open handbags in Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden and other busy spots.
The initiative, which runs until the end of August in London before being rolled out countrywide, is being funded by a broadbrand provider, which says it wants to brighten up people’s lives in unusual ways.
“It feels good to give something back for a change — and Britons certainly need it in the current economic climate,” said Chris Fitch, a former pickpocket who now heads TalkTalk’s putpocketing initiative.
“Every time I put money back in someone’s pocket, I feel less guilty about the fact I spent many years taking it out.”
London’s police have been briefed about the plan, which will see at least 100,000 pounds given away.

Pretty amusing don’t you think? I’d love to think people out there are really nice and generous. This gives me a really nice feeling. And I wanna be a putpocket! I love the feeling of doing something good for someone secretly(: Makes you feel sweet and awesome.
It’s yet another thursday night, I sort of remember saying the last time that I’m free-er (note: free-er, not free) on thursday nights. Went for the chinese lecture on how to write a comedy script, hosted by Borris Boo, director of ‘Where Got Ghost?‘. Was quite good, and totally worth the time. Unhappy with people who came late though ):< cos they kept interupting him. But it’s okay, i’m a forgiving guy. hurhur. Anyway, ‘Good Girls Go Bad’ by Cobra Starship is nice! :D I’m into electropop music these days, I think they are awesome!
Been unwell this whole week, with a nose that just keeps running and a throat that keeps sore-ing (forgive my bad english). Been better but i’ll survive. And ManU lost to Burnley 1 – 0, hope Burnley owns every single other team in there. BOO. ManU doesn’t seem so well this season. I think it’s the not-so-good-looking new jersey design. A chevron that points down won’t ever go up. CHANGE CHANGE.
Okays blah, bye.

blow me a kiss
and wish me a happy birthday ;D
i’m officially sixteen and officially OLD. but i’ll always be younger than most. anyway, a huge thank you goes out to everyone out there who has wished me a happy birthday in some form or another, with desmond/jack winning the most unusual way that consists of a bubble tea pearl that went into desmond’s mouth already.
what’s being sixteen without some achievements? something that everyone can do when they are sixteen is sex but it’s not like i’m planning to have some soon. another is nc16 movies, which uh. is kinda funny. cos that means i can no longer sneak into nc16 movies (next target: m18!). watched public enemies on tuesday though. haha. and an achievenment that not everyone can do: tie a cherry stem with my tongue! :D did it after eating my swensens firehouse birthday ice cream thing (its FREE!) awesome shizz.
i was thinking, sixteen years ago i was this small puny little boy that just came out of the operating(?) theatre and screaming like i have never done before (which is kind of true – who screams in the womb?) and my mum was just so glad to have given birth to me – be it cos of no more pain or a new joy in her life. i prefer the latter though :D and yea, that thought is just amazing. being small and innocent and young and cute and whatever. i like cute babies!
okay, so anyway, i share birthdays with lots and lots of people, with some more notable people including: Ben Affleck (woohoo he rocks!) Joe Jonas (uh okay not bad but i dont really like jonas brothers) and probably some others that i can’t really find on wiki. some not-so-notable people (sorry guys. haha), clement kweh! vivien! (from plmgs whom i dont really keep in touch with, unfortunately) foong’s sister (oO) rachel’s sister (yet another oO) benwong’s two cousins (HAHA.) and uh whoever else who share’s my awesome birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY PEOPLE. oh yes, there were probably lots of small little puny cute babies that were born yesterday, so happy birthday to them too! :D
alright, my first day after turning sixteen will be spent on… CHEMISTRY! :D HOW AWESOME. all thanks to the chem teachers for conveniently placing a cct on monday.

details in the fabric

If it’s a broken part, replace it
But, if it’s a broken arm then brace it
If it’s a broken heart then face it
awesome song by jason mraz(: that ends with “you’re an island of reality in an ocean of diarrhea”.
it’s a nice slack thursday night, when i don’t bother to do my work because none is due on friday (usually) and i just dump it to the weekends. Spent hours these two websites: blinksoflife.tumblr.com and thingsweforget.blogspot.com. Really beautiful places to visit and pretty thought provoking. I actually pressed previous/next all the way till the start/end.

love the yellow post-its, the author actually pastes them around singapore and leaves it to its fate. if you see one one day, you know where it’s from :D

Happy Birthday Singapore
I’m sold to the propaganda.
It’s heartwarming to know there are many Singaporeans out there who love their country(: The parade seemed better this year, less corny, less dumbness and simple yet heartfelt. To all Singaporeans out there, have a happy national day!
I have to admit though, I didn’t say the plegde at 8.22 (actually i think they overran haha). Oh, this year’s song seemed to have some potential but there are some parts that weren’t as good. I think ‘Home’ was still the best. Go out have fun and enjoy yourselves! :D
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE!

the words that i could never say

readers are advised to read this slowly so it will last longer and you wouldn’t have to wait so long for the next post.
Once again, haven’t blogged in a damn long time. I suppose its work and whatnot but also I’ve been lazy. BUT, when i do see somethin
g interesting online I do save it in my drafts for a future post. so yea, below you see two things. First, a poem by some random guy (he isn’t exactly a famous poem) but I felt it connected with me at that point in time so yea, hope you gain inspiration or something. This guy got his inspiration from “I know why the caged bird sings” by Maya Angelou (book club! haha). Second, funny news from yahoo! news, really amazing story. Moral of the story: clean up more often.
Some Things
by Adam Geiger
As the sun sets and the tides change
You realize some things you can’t rearrange
Try as you wish, and wish as you try
Keep in mind the birds will still flySo don’t waste your time on something that is not
Because your hopes and dreams will surely rot
Lay it to rest, start over new
There is one thing I know, the sky is still blueGive it your best and try your all
Remember though, the leaves will still fall
Fate is harsh, and often tough
Take my word, life’s full of this stuffThe wind will still blow and those sky’s will still snow
But I believe there is one thing you should eternally know
As the sun sets and the tides changeThere are some things you just can’t rearrange
This makes my post really really long already, so yea :P School has been extremely boring, super envious of bengoh who has LOA cos some guy sitting close to him got h1n1. Thank god bengoh is fine. (well, but if he wasnt then maybe i could say we had uh training together or something then i should have LOA also. hahaha)
Anyway, wangkwan owes me his life because i got full marks for TA. HAH. Basically mrs.tan (math teacher) said that no one got full marks, highest was 14.5 and i asked, just for fun, “ma’am did you check mine?” and she said “oh, max got full marks” and everyone was like O: and we (so did i) thought she was just joking. and wangkwan said “if max get full marks i go jump down” and then tada two days later TA is given back and quite a few people got few marks (apparently she forgot) and so did i. AND our class got highest average in the entire batch! for the very very very first time. (also cos i think its my very very very first time getting full marks for a TA this year. HAHA.)
awesome shizzles.
Oh, and i slept 12 hours again today/yesterday, absolutely love sleeping. Okay, i’m glad i finally posted. Till next time then.
Lost love letter reunites couple after 16 years
AFP – Tuesday, July 21
LONDON (AFP) – - A British man and his Spanish former sweetheart have finally married 16 years after they drifted apart, reunited by a love letter lost behind a fireplace for over a decade, reports said on Monday.
Steve Smith and Carmen Ruiz-Perez, both now 42, fell in love 17 years ago when she was a foreign exchange student in Brixham, southwest England, and got engaged after only a year together.
But their relationship ended after she moved France to run a shop in Paris.
A few years later, in a bid to rekindle their love, Smith sent a letter to her mother’s home in Spain. It was placed on the mantelpiece, but slipped down behind the fireplace and was lost for over a decade.
The missing missive was only found when builders removed the
fireplace during renovation work.
“When I got the letter I didn’t phone Steve right away because I was so nervous,” Ruiz-Perez told the Herald Express local newspaper.
“I nearly didn’t phone him at all. I kept picking up the phone then putting it down again.
“But I knew I had to make the call.”
When they were reunited, it was as if time had stood still, said Smith, a factory supervisor.
“When we met again it was like a film. We ran across the airport into each other’s arms. We met up and fell in love all over again. Within 30 seconds of setting eyes on each other we were kissing.
“I’m just glad the letter did eventually end up where it was supposed to be,” he said, after the couple married last Friday.
