i don’t want to go to school!
School’s ’starting’ in two days and i haven’t had enough of the holidays. I suppose the induction whatever rubbish will be kinda slack but still. Open house tomorrow, I think it’s gonna be uh. okay lar, it should be useful. Still haven’t decided my cca so hopefully i’ll learn more tomorrow and decide properly.
Calvin is damn cute. I like calvin and hobbes comics. They have all sorts of funny stuff and stupid stuff and i wish i had a talking tiger toy when i was young! Actually i would still love a talking tiger toy now. I could use him to scare people! rawr.
Anyway, it’s daron’s birthday today! happy birthday daron. and uh belated to ziyang. and uh. i bet there’s lots of others but my mind doesn’t work so late at night so happy birthday to whoever haha.
Enjoy the last few days of non-school! Technically, school starts on the 28th but that’s still orientation only. Ohoh. BW10! I think the name is spelt G’ day, mate! (according to gwei its the aussie THING. haha.) Kinda cool when you look at it but if you say it out it’s like, good day mate. like quite boring lor.
Oh and my favourite song for now is “One Tribe” by black eyed peas. Quite cool and meaningful despite the cliche. I think i like the tribal beats. haha.
G’nite mate.

and life goes on.
so i wonder why people celebrate the new year. It’s just another day off the calendar, another day closer to the end of your life, and another day of the week. So what’s so special about it? the great mystery that baffles me.
Anyway, i was reading a book. (surprise surprise) And that book gave me an inspiration. About how life goes on with or without you and the people around you shed a few tears, pick up their lives and carry on. And the book also said that psychologists claim to help you face reality but in actual fact they try to turn you away from how horrible your life really is. Which i think, is very true. But the book also talks about means and ends so i suppose if you end up a happy person then it’s more or less justified. (don’t shoot me here.)
But back to the point, the inspiration. So i was thinking of a movie. I like psychological movies that make your mind think like crap and plays with your morals and emotions and ethics and instincts and motives and yea stuff like that. Movies that make you think and feel bad and feel good and feel bad again. So i thought of this rough sketch of a film or whatever.
1.
Person A walks home all alone. Goes home, does mundane stuff that you do before you go to sleep and goes to sleep. The next day, she (yea, she.) wakes up bright and early, goes to school, attends lessons, falls asleep just like a normal average person and goes through the day just like a normal average person and walks home alone, does mundane stuff and goes to sleep. (repeat for as long as the director wants to bore out the audience)
Now, the next day happens to be the weekend. So she goes home, calls up a few friends, does a bit of planning and arranging for the next day’s plans and goes to sleep with a smile on her face. Wakes up the next day, super duper happy and does some random stuff and goes out, meets up with her friends does some fun stuff and have fun.
2.
Now comes the fast forward. Show a few more scenes of boring monday – friday school life, and weekends and fast forward the times, with focus on the fun parts. Show some dialogue with friends, build up audience interest and sense of attachment to character, but don’t waste film time cos film is expensive.
3.
Main character dies. (of whatever cause, leave it to the director. but it’s something sudden, totally unexpected but highly plausible)
4.
People are shocked, cry a bit. and fast forward, (oh did i say person A was a grown up furthering her studies? yea. now you know) and show her things being moved out of her house, emptying of the place, potential buyers going in and out of the house, and one family/person eventually buying the apartment/whatever. This part has to go through quite fast. Show funeral and parents crying and stuff as well.
5.
Show a few of such stories and the audience will turn numb. And then show something totally different, a twist to the entire story and then the audience will go whoa. and walk away from the movie enlightened about their lives. The only problem is i haven’t figured out the twist.
Okay i know all that sounded like rubbish but hey, i’m not an award winning script writer. Basically what i was trying to portray was life goes on. I want to build that attachment with the audience, make the like the first character, and then POW. End the life of the character, leave the audience traumatised, make them shocked by the sudden-ness and severity and then show that life can go on without that character. After showing a few more, the audience more or less spots the pattern, and then grows numb. And then, (i figured out the twist!) show a last story where the main character makes a difference in the lives of others or does something inspiring. If the death of the last character can leave more impact on the audience, then why not. At least the audience walks away knowing that although the last character died, he/she made a great difference and it shows despite the little value of one’s life, it can matter much to others and cause a great difference. Yeah.
Hey, i think that could make an award winning movie. Really. Just needs lots of touching up on though. And a damn good director and psychology consultants and stuff to make the movie play alot with the minds of the audience. Mmm.

Dear Dave, (i dont know your name so i just gave you one)
You’re the guy with the big biceps and a single ear stud on the left ear. You’re the guy with the big calves and white shoes with a splash of red. And you’re the guy who ran the 10km ‘with me’ no matter how unintentionally. You had a great pace and i just followed you and i couldnt have achieved my timing without you. For that, thank you. (even though i eventually beat you and left you far far behind ;D hahaha im mean.)
Well yea, I ran the 10k category in standard chartered and got that timing but as I said, couldnt have done it without ‘Dave’ the macho man. Ladida now i don’t know what to type already. I’ve run out of juice. haha. Even though i haven’t posted since i dont know when. So anyway, I’ve gotten a job with Mandarin Oriental, it’s quite fun actually, despite the crazy working hours. like 5pm to 1am? yea…but then the people there are really friendly and it makes weddings seem so insignificant now that I see them everyday haha. So hey, if you’re heading to mandarin oriental for a wedding dinner, you just might see me carrying a teapot or portioning your food. hahaha. The people there are real friendly and very free with their vulgarities too :D its kind funny. and they teach you how to uh… “f*** the duck” (replace f*** with debone). Deboning the duck sucks real bad but hey whenever you do it you laugh at them calling it effing the duck. Oh and they stuff the duck head back up its ass and into the body. how gross.
Oh yea i think adam lambert has a better album than kris now but i suppose thats just cos kris is the (to me) typical boy. while adam lambert is the out of this world funky guy. or gay. whatever. But i havent really listened to kris’s album much so shoot me. i still like adam lambert’s music muhaha. sorry kris allen fans. haha and this is just to make my post seem longer.
The year has ended, so there’s lots i’m leaving behind. I’ll miss 4Q, the damn screwed up class filled with mischief and rubbish. (and fats spilling over everywhere.) You guys mess around like crazy and do damn stupid stuff and make fun of chi hung and ryan chindian and ryan goh’s ridiculous haircut and lots lots more. Aiya, you guys just rock kay. and another thing. our class had no indians nor malays and so we just whole day make racist jokes and stuff and it was just fun. Ah well. have fun in the jc side next year people. (if all of you make it over. coughcough.)
Gaga has a new album, the fame monster, and i realise her music all mostly the same. But some are still nice lar. Adam Lambert has more pumped up music than her haha.
enjoy your holidays people.

oh and just to share with everyone the very meaningful lyrics of onerepublic’s ‘Marchin On’.
For those days we felt like a mistake,
Those times when love’s what you hate
Somehow
We keep marchin onFor those nights that i couldn’t be there,
I’ve made it harder to know that you know
That somehow
We’ll keep movin onTheres so many wars we fought
Theres so many things we’re not
But with what we have
I promise you that
We’re marchin on
We’re marchin onFor all of the plans we made
There isn’t a flag I’d wave
Don’t care where we’ve been
I’d sink us to swim
We’re marchin on
We’re marchin onFor those doubts that swirl all around us
For those lives that tear at the seams
We know
Were not what we’ve seenOh
For this dance we move with each other
There aint no other step
Than one foot
Right in front of the other
OhTheres so many wars we fought
Theres so many things we’re not
But with what we have
I promise you that
We’re marchin on
We’re marchin onFor all of the plans we made
There isn’t a flag I’d wave
Don’t care where we’ve been
I’d sink us to swim
We’re marchin on
We’re marchin onRight Right Right Right Left
Right Right Right Right Left
Right Right Right Marchin OnWe’ll have the days we break
And we’ll have the scars to prove it
We’ll have the bomb that we saved
And we’ll have the heart
Not to lose itFor all of the times we fought
For all of the things i’m notOh!
You put one foot in front of the other
We go where we go we’re marchin on
Marchin onTheres so many wars we fought
Theres so many things we’re not
But with what we have
I promise you that
We’re marchin on
We’re marchin on
Right Right Right Right Left
Right Right Right Right Left
Marchin On
Marchin on
we’ll keep marching on…

My Life is Average
thought i’d drop by to say hi to myself before i go back to mugging. Actually somedays I wonder why I even blog – to know more about myself? to talk to myself? to let people know more about me? to bore myself out? to express feelings I can’t express elsewhere? oh, forget about the last one. a blog is so damn public you probably have to censor almost everything anyway. wow hahaha and I just typed so much without much thinking.
Yea, so my life is average. I suppose you’ve heard of fmylife.com and mylifeisaverage.com. But if you haven’t and you are really bored, those could bring some laughs. If you detest harry potter however, mlia is not suggested. haha. So anyway, it’s the long weekend before the rest of the exams (like you didn’t already know – see what i mean! im talking to myself.) and i really want things to be over and done with then i can go enjoy myself. oh, haven’t met you yet is just playing now. michael buble’s album is no.1 on the billboard chart! oh and britney spear’s ‘3′ is no.1 on the billboard hot 100, the beat is pretty cool but it gets overly repetitive and her voice sounds a little weird. but its time for ‘I gotta feeling’ to get off the no.1 spot anyway. HAHA and i bet you didnt give a damn about all the above. (and all the above is yet another song) imagine if people just started speaking in song titles all the time. I think it would work out.
Okay so I thought I’d blog about a dilemma that I’m in right now. SYFC vs canoeing. Uh, yea i know i dont seem like someone who would go for canoeing but hey, i was thinking why not give it a try? and then along comes SYFC. For those who didn’t know, I’d love to be a pilot when i grow up (rsaf, sia whatever) so technically SYFC would be a good experience and stuff. SO I’m like stuck between two I like. But actually I think I’ve made up my mind. (and i’m not telling you what. hah.) Which renders the entire paragraph useless. Awesome.
And I was thinking of what I want to be when I grow up. Diving instructor sounds way cool, pilot is cool too but it has nothing much to do with nature (other than sky sky sky everywhere) and theres actor (isn’t it cool to be one!) just that I probably can’t act. Singer sounds very good too (pardon the pun) just that I can’t sing (people in my class know very well). And actors and singers earn like, lots of money if they are successful! Taylor Swift is just 19 and she probably has earned more money in a year than my parents in their lifetime. But its not just about the money (wow.) cos i want to do something really fun. Of course the best would be to just live in a big house with a nice view and a nice pool and good friends and nothing to do so i can just enjoy my life, travel the world (oh i want to do that too thats why i want to be a pilot) and do lots of stuff. but that does not get me any money so thats tough. oh and i want a cool car too! Oh if there’s anyone rich out there who like, wants to give away money you can find me okay. and it must be given unconditionally, like yea you give to me and nothing happens and i just enjoy my life. haha dream on.
Oh speaking of dreams, i dreamt that my starting pay was 30k! Which is probably impossible. Last night I had lots of dreams. There was that one, and something else. and something else. I already forgot most of them anyway. Okay so i suppose here ends my long post. It’s probably my longest in a longest while and irony is – it’s during exam period. HAHA omg i just realised that i didn’t blog anything about exams, which is really good. People need to talk less about exams and results and stuff. SO how was your exams? HAHAHAHA.
just another you-don’t-really-want-to-spend-your-time-reading-cos-its-dead-boring episode of my life.

Been a real long time since my last post, so here’s another post. Have been wanting to post for quite a long while now but couldnt really get myself to it because I dislike giving short ‘unloving’ posts. Like uh, no heart in it yeea. But I can’t say i got the heart to post now anyway haha. SO anyway, i dont know what to type about. I wanted to tell a story, i think. so here goes:
Once upon a time, there was a stupid boy who got drunk real bad. He laid down on a train track and a train barely missed him. The police woke him up and he gave them the finger :D The end. Go read it below!
Train misses drunken teen napping on track
PARIS (Reuters) – A drunk French teenager narrowly escaped death on Sunday after falling asleep on a railway track and slumbering undisturbed as a high-speed train roared over him, police said.
The 19-year old, whose name was not released, remained fast asleep face down on a stretch of track near Saint Nolff in southern Brittany, as the Quimper to Paris train passed, leaving only a few grease stains on the back of his jacket.
The driver saw the body lying on the tracks and slammed on the brakes, but was only able to stop a few hundred meters further on.
“It was his unconscious state that saved him really, as he lay there completely still like a dead body,” said a spokesman for the local police force, adding that the clearance under the train is only around 20 centimeters.
According to the spokesman, the teenager was making his way back from the Saint Nolff music festival when he stopped to take a nap on the railway line.
Roused by police and fire fighters who attended the scene, the young man gave a one-fingered salute before rolling over and going back to sleep.
He was subsequently transferred to a nearby hospital where police say he is still recovering from his alcohol binge.
“He’s not really aware of what happened,” said the police spokesman.

Only happens in Paris haha. If this was Singapore, you either went splat or straight to jail. haha thats my typical trick to make my posts seem longer. I think i should stop doing it soon. But i mean, its just sharing uh funny stupid stuff. Actually i get them from gmail’s adverts/whatnots above the inbox. It’s from reuter’s oddly enough news. yeea.

That’s a good song, but it didnt stay in my head as bleeding love did. But still, its awesome.

be all you can be! anecdotes
The following are excerpts from a book that renhao and friends got me for my birthday, Be All You Can Be! by John C. MAXwell.
The story is told that when Berlin was being divided into East Berlin, controlled by the Communists, and West Berlin, part of the free world, a group of East Berliners dumped a whole truckload of garbage on the west side. The people from West Berlin thought they’d pick up all the garbage, put it on a truck, and dump it back on the east side. Then they decided that wasn’t the way to handle it. Instead they filled a dump truck with canned goods and other nonperishable food items, went over to the east side, stack it neatly, and put a sign beside it. The sign read, “Each gives what each has to give.”
HAHA. if you didnt understand it take your time, took me quite a while too.
Everybody wants to be productive. A psychologist at Stanford University tried to show that we live for productive results, or fruit. This researcher hired a man – a logger. He said, “I’ll pay you double what you get paid in the logging camp, if you’ll take the blunt end of this ax and just pound this log all day. You never have to cut one piece of wood. Just take the end that is blunt and hit it as hard as you can, just as you would if you were logging.” The man worked for half a day and he quit. The psychologist asked, “Why did you quit?” The logger said, “Because every time i move an ax, I have to see the chips fly. If I dont’ see the chips fly, it’s no fun.” … In other words, they are producing no fruit, and their joy is gone. Joy has been replaced by a sense of futility, uselessness, immobility. Fruitful people like to see the chips fly.
go out and make some chips fly today!
I hope there’s more to come, will try to share some nuggets of enlightenment now and then. haha.

Dutch girl, 13, blocked from global solo sail
Fri Aug 28, 2009 2:55pm EDTBy Aaron Gray-Block
UTRECHT, Netherlands (Reuters) – A 13-year-old Dutch girl’s plans to become the youngest person to sail solo around the world were temporarily blocked on Friday when a court placed her under state supervision for two months.Laura Dekker, who was born on her parents’ boat in New Zealand and spent her first four years at sea, had intended to begin a two-year voyage on September 1 on her 8.3 meter (27 ft) yacht Guppy.
“I’m not scared because I know that I can do it and my boat is good,” she said in an interview with state broadcaster NOS, when asked about the court ruling.
“…It’s basically stayed about the same, only it will take a little longer,” she added.
In a case that captured the attention of the sea-faring Dutch, child welfare authorities said it would be irresponsible to let her depart. A court in Utrecht agreed the trip posed risks to Dekker’s psychological development.
The court stopped short of removing custody from her parents, who support her planned trip, and she will stay with her father, who will share custody with the state.
The court ordered a psychologist and child protection authorities to examine how she would cope alone on the boat.
The ruling came a day after British 17-year-old Mike Perham became the youngest person to sail around the globe single-handed after nine months at sea.
Dekker’s lawyer, Peter de Lange, said he was confident her trip would go ahead.
“She is happy with the ruling, and now we can prepare this (journey) in a mature and responsible way,” De Lange said. Her father, an experienced sailor, was in court for the verdict, but did not speak to reporters.
Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende told a weekly news conference the risks and Dekker’s schooling must be taken into account. “I can very well imagine that from various perspectives there are great concerns,” he said.
CHALLENGES AT SEA
Dekker said in the interview she would tell investigating authorities how she grew up to give them an idea of her abilities. She stressed the longest time she would be alone at sea would be three weeks since she would often call into port.
She shrugged off concerns about her schooling because she plans to study via distance learning.
Caroline Vink, a senior adviser at the Youth Institute in the Netherlands which advises the Dutch government, said the biggest question was whether a 13-year-old could understand the consequences of her decision.
“Two years out of school will have an impact on her normal development,” she said. “It is wonderful to have dreams, but they have to be realistic.”
Presiding Judge M. Oostendorp said a hearing would be held on October 26 to examine the findings of the inquiry into the teenager’s ability to cope with the challenges of a trip.
A court spokeswoman said if the psychological assessment showed Dekker unable to cope, she could be placed under permanent supervision of welfare authorities.

quite a headache for the dutch, i’m sure.
anyway, just got back from hillary closing ceremony, congrats go out to both teams, well done guys – they got top two btw. well done everyone!
okay on to something totally unrelated. there are a few reasons that people look down while walking, some feel disappointed, some are looking out for cracks in the ground (people with ocd included), some avoiding birdshit on the floor.
…or some have just drop dead gorgeous sexy shoes.
go figure.

whispered words of wisdom
so let it be;
This is guaranteed to make you laugh. Don’t know if anyone has seen this before, but it certainly put a smile on my face.
Haven’t been doing much with my life lately, except for yesterday when i blew 50 bucks on a topman jacket. Come to think of it, 50 bucks IS damn ex. but ah well, its cool. HAHA. Everything cool has a price, if not it ain’t cool. yea right. and went to timbre with my bro and mum, super cool! It’s this pub/bar place at clarke quay, along the singapore river, just next to the stamford raffles statue. Really good place and their saturday live band rocks! :D My bro says they perform at hard rock some times also. Ah well, yesterday was heck lot of fun. OH yes the ice cream buffet. It was kinda crazy. Eating so much ice cream has its problems. And after lots of cake and pie and ice cream, I was really craving for meat. You know, like the menu front cover has that juicy piece of beef. O: It never looked so good before. Won’t go back there in a while, but i suppose their service is rated A+. (other than the super duper long queue – which isn’t really their fault) but their place is really big so the queue isn’t that slow.
Well, these four days holiday is gonna be spent nice and slowly, and i’m gonna make full use of it – with paying back my sleep debt for starters. Oh and yea, man u won 2 -1 this morning, quite happy but its from a penalty and own goal, while arsenal scored a real nice goal (as they said on bbc), so i dont know, might be just luck or man u might really be doing quite well. I still think they need better strikers. Owen is out of touch, berbatov is lazy, valencia is new, nani is lousy, which leaves rooney as the only hard working and effective striker. (i think.) Tevez was good but i dont know whats wrong between him and ferguson. Anyway, hope they make at least one more signing before the transfer window closes.
Ah well, till next time then.
